A.G. Lafley was recognized with the Peter G. Peterson Award for Business Statesmanship by the Committee for Economic Development on Tuesday, October 20th, in New York. This award is given every year to a business leader who exemplifies strong leadership and commitment to corporate ethics.
In his acceptance remarks, A.G. spoke about how companies like P&G are a force of economic growth and social good in the world:
What has enabled P&G to thrive not just survive so many challenges for so many years?
We are purpose driven, values and principles led. Our purpose is to touch consumers and improve their everyday lives. Right now, we're serving about 3.8 billion consumers. We are committed to serve 5 billion by 2015. Our values include integrity and trust, leadership and ownership. Our principles guide us to do the right thing for the greater good and the longer term health of the business and the institution.
We believe business in general and P&G in particular touch and improve more lives everyday in our increasingly interconnected and global economy. When we are at our best, businesses, including P&G, are a consistent force for economic growth and a passionate force for a better society.
